After hiring Conte this summer, Inter made some good moves in the transfer market, which sees them as a title-challengers.
Inter took home seven wins in the opening eight fixtures of Serie A. The only loss came from the hands of the mighty Juventus.
However, even though they’re four points behind, Conte’s men will get the chance to close the gap today against Sassuolo.
The Oldy Lady at the top of the table showed some signs of struggling. Sarri barely got out some wins in the league, mostly due to brilliant Miralem Pjanic.
Even though they’re on a good track, Alexis Sanchez’s injury is a big blow to Nerazzurri’s ambitions.
Marotta spoke about the club to Inter’s official website.
Asked about the death of Sassuolo’s owner, Giorgio Squinzi, Marotta commented:
“This is a special match because it will be in memory of a great sporting figure, Giorgio Squinzi.
“I had the opportunity to get to know him and he always demonstrated important values.”
Marotta also put an emphasis on the club’s improvement:
“We’re on a journey of improvement led by Antonio Conte. We won’t stop.”
Talking about Alexis Sanchez injury, Marotta made his feelings known, concluding:
“The January market is available to the Club but the strongest players aren’t available for moves in that window.
“We’ll be alert to examine any potential opportunities. We have a competitive squad, obviously we’d be happier without the Sanchez injury.
“We’re optimistic, when Alexis comes back the attacking set-up will remain unchanged.”
