Alexis Sanchez tells us why he wanted to stay at Inter Milan, and along with the traditional “to win” comment was perhaps a final dig at Manchester United.
Alexis Sanchez has left the building. Well, he actually left Old Trafford about a year ago and has not returned since. Now he will not return at all, well not as a United player at least.
The man who arrived in a swap deal from Arsenal was billed as one of the club’s greatest signings ever.
Oh, how wrong could they have been. On astronomical wages that rocked the dressing room, and a return ratio that was virtually none existent.
When Sanchez arrived at the Theatre of Dreams, he thanked Arsenal for the good times and spoke of becoming successful at the biggest club in the world.
There were no such pleasantries when he spoke about signing for Inter Milan.
He was loaned out to Inter Milan, and that move has now become permanent. Nobody at United, be it fan, player, or coach will probably lose too much sleep over his departure.
Following the official announcement he took to social media to reveal to the Nerazzurri faithful why he had to stay.
“Hello there Inter fans. I am very, very happy to be staying here with you.”
“I think that I had this desire to stay here because I have found a family, in the staff, and everyone who is eager to fight and win something for this club.”
“I am hungry and want to win something, so that is why I am so happy to be here, with you, to win something.”
It appears that Alexis did not feel the love at United like he has at Inter.
What do you think?
