Jack Grealish’s Aston Villa future is a hot topic in the rumor mill of football transfers, but is he giving us clues to what lies ahead?
Jack Grealish may become one of the transfer stories of the summer that rumbles on and rumbles on.
Grealish is West Midlands of England born and bred. He grew up cheering his beloved Aston Villa from the terraces as a young boy. Cheering the likes of Dalian Atkinson and Dwight Yorke, listening to stories of Gordon Cowans and Stephen Hunt, all of whom donned the number ten he has now made his own.
He is living his childhood dreams, wearing the shirt of his heroes, and even leading his beloved club out at Villa Park on matchday as the club captain.
It was suggested that if the Villains were relegated he would leave with the blessing of everyone at the club. Nobody wants to stop Grealish fulfilling his potential and rising to the top of football.
However, Villa and Grealish pulled off the “great escape” and survived the drop. Now while many would understand his ambition, it remains to be seen what the player himself wants to do.
Perhaps he is giving us a few cryptic clues via social media.
All in his emotions after the last day of the season miracle. He was proud of what his side had achieved, perhaps as a fan more than anything.
But his comments suggest that “one more year” at the club may be on the cards?
Then later that day, the champagne was flowing, and there was time for a smile and embrace from his boss, Dean Smith.
The broad smiles, and the tight embrace almost reminiscent of a father to a son, wishing him a safe journey on his travels.
Was this one final goodbye, as Smith knows that Grealish will leave Villa Park for his holidays and probably never return to wear the claret shirt again?
Now the dust has settled, and rumored asking prices have been revealed.
Manchester United are interested, but at 80 million pounds, people are saying he is not worth it. Talk is, that Villa is pricing him out of a move.
Will he stay or will he go?
Perhaps one final clue from Jack.
The fingers in the ears suggest he isn’t listening to any of the chatter, or what anyone else has to say.
Is he rejecting United, is he lining up a shock move to Arsenal, or is he really going to surprise us and stay at Villa? Odds Checker is favoring the midfielder to stay put, at 2/5 on.
One thing is for sure Jack Grealish will make up his own mind.
