Watford were relegated from the English top-flight, leaving the door open for Ismaila Sarr to leave after just a single year with the Hornets.

Rennes received £30 million to let go of Ismaila Sarr. Watford were happy to pay the sum for an exciting young prospect.

Sarr lived up to the billing, scoring five goals and laying down 4 assists in his debut Premier League campaign. The highlight of the wingers season came against Liverpool, where he was instrumental in their first defeat of the season.

While it was a decent campaign for Sarr, Watford cannot claim the same as they were relegated to the Championship.

The Senegalese has been linked with a move away from the club. Liverpool are one of the clubs, as a reunion with Sadio Mane excites pundits.

Sarr is coy about his future and subtly hinted at joining Mane at Anfield. He praised the English champions and stated that he wants his next club to be playing in the Champions League.

“Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there,” Express quoted the exciting winger.

“They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year. But also there are great teams in the English league.”

“Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If [he were to leave], I just hope it’s to a good team,” Sarr added.

“Everyone who works is looking for advancement. Maybe if Watford frees me one day I could go and play for a bigger team. Go and showcase my talent elsewhere and then win trophies.

“Playing the Champions League is a dream for all players.

“I have already had the pleasure of playing in the Europa League so if these teams want to have me in their squads, let them discuss it with Watford and find an agreement, I would not say no.”
