Issa Diop a wanted man at Old Trafford

Manchester United are keen on signing Issa Diop from West Ham United this summer with the Hammers holding out for a lot of money in exchange.

Issa Diop has definitely become one of the most sought after stars of the summer transfer market. The young defender had an amazing start to life in the English Premier League with West Ham United.

Such consistent displays haven’t gone unnoticed and now, Manchester United are looking to make Issa Diop their second signing of the summer.

The youngster only moved from Toulouse last summer but is apparently keen on seeking a higher level. The likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested but according to Sky News, the youngster wants to stay in England.

And a former Manchester United manager is a big fan of the young Frenchman who he calls a monster.

Solskjaer admits United need a player like Bryan Robson

The Red Devils manager believes the former midfielder had a lot of class and this is exactly what the team needs.

“Congratulations to the scout that found a 21-year-old kid Diop – a monster who dominated in the duels,” the Mourinho said following United’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Hammers.

And although Mourinho has since then left the club, the Red Devils have been looking at Issa Diop for quite a while.

Moreover, it appears that Diop could be a more attainable target. The Red Devils were chasing Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt all summer but it is clear that the Dutchman doesn’t want to move to England.

Harry Maguire has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer. However, the England international’s asking price is quite a lot and Leicester City haven’t budged either. Moreover, Manchester City are also in the hunt for the defender so United might be better off looking at Issa Diop.

At 22, the youngster has a lot of room to develop. In a short space of time, Issa Diop has proven himself to be capable of holding his own against the best. And, the youngster is not going to cost the club an arm and a foot.
