The Lazio manager was delighted after two of his substitutes scored late goals to secure the Italian Cup title.
Goals by substitutes Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Joaquin Correa helped Lazio lift the Coppa Italia trophy by beating Atalanta 2-0.
Thanks to the victory, the team will play in the UEFA Europa League next season.
“It was a wonderful evening in front of marvelous fans. We had a great game, but also congratulations to Atalanta, as it was hard fought, the same way it was in Serie A, and this time we did well to turn the incidents our way,” Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi told Football Italia.
“I told the lads that at times those who come off the bench are more important than the starting XI. I am satisfied, as we had a wonderful run in this Coppa Italia.”
He added: “We wanted this victory, this trophy because we gave it our all and will now enjoy this night. Thank you.”
“This Cup means so much to us after we suffered during the season. We deserved it, although Atalanta also had a great Coppa run,” goalscorer Joaquin Correa said.
“Getting into the Europa League is very important and I feel incredibly happy at winning the Coppa Italia.”
“We had so many bad performances and injuries, but it helped form an even stronger group and we never gave up,” Correa concluded.
