Italy and Spain U21s continue talking trash to each other

The Azzurrini defeated the Spaniards 3-1 after being down by one goal earlier in the U21 EURO match.

The U21 Spain national team was winning 1-0 in their match against Italy in the U21 EURO opening game.

But three unanswered goals by the Azzurrini defeated the Spaniards, who claimed the Italians were playing “very dirty.”

And two days after the game, the players are still talking about it.

“There’s no risk of underestimating Poland,” said Gianluca Mancini to Football Italia.

“We know the value of this match and this tournament: after Spain, we said that the most important match was tomorrow’s to give continuity to our first game.”

“The Spanish players were always on the deck, but we only played with the right intensity. It’s better that they complained and we won,” he added.

“The Azzurri shirt is just a matter of pride and something that brings us all together, so no pressure.”

“We’re in the most beautiful profession in the world, wearing the most beautiful color in the world,” he commented.

1994 WORLD CUP FINAL

It’s been 25 years since the 1994 World Cup Final

Today marks 25 years since the 1994 FIFA World Cup Final and the famous Roberto Baggio penalty miss.

“I’m personally very happy. I never thought I’d be here with the U21s. You live it for the moment and it’s the result of the sacrifices that many of us make.”

“The right-back role in the Italy team is a bit pretentious because Mr. Mancini asks me to play as a third center-back when I’m defending,” he said.

“I won’t deny that I’ve found it tough, but I’ve also felt good. It’s undoubtedly a role that I can also play in for the Under-21s if Mr. Di Biagio asks me to.”
