A player who has faced both attackers suggests he’d rather go against the Portugal No. 7 than the Belgium No. 9.
Italy defender Francesco Acerbi is of the view Cristiano Ronaldo is “easier to mark” than Romelu Lukaku.
Italy beat Austria 2-1 in the Euro 2020 Round of 16 on Saturday, and up next for them is a clash with either Portugal or Belgium in the quarter-finals.
Portugal and Belgium are both intimidating opponents, especially with either boasting an attacker well-known for terrorizing defenses.
The Juventus forward has been lethal as ever so far in the tournament and is leading the Golden Boot race while the Inter Milan striker is also in fine goalscoring form and is not too far behind his opposite number in that race.
Quizzed who among the two stars is more difficult to keep at bay, Acerbi responded, via Football Italia: “Maybe Lukaku, because he’s a complete player, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo, who always scores.
“As a centre-forward, Lukaku is more difficult to mark because he has more physique, he has power and is a bit more of a striker.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the classic forward, but he is more easier to mark than Lukaku.”
