The Azzurrini dominated the whole match but at the end, they were defeated by Poland at home soil.
31 times the U21 Italy national team tried to score against the Polish today in the U21 EURO Championship.
But the Azzurrini couldn’t score and at the end was defeated 1-0 by Poland.
“It was a difficult, complicated and bitter evening for the result, but we have to concentrate on the final group game,” FIGC president Gabriele Gravina told Football Italia.
“We had the chance today to secure qualification for the semi-final, we didn’t take it, and now our fate also depends on what the others do.”
“It’s important to maintain faith because as we saw this evening, football can bring some surprises,” he added.
“I will certainly meet with the players, as we cannot let our heads drop now. Their courage and determination must emerge more than ever after this game.”
“Many Italians followed the game with passion and we dominated the encounter, yet for a series of reasons, we lost,” he said.
“We have to immediately put this to one side and prepare for the next match.”
He concluded: “I was with the lads and can guarantee there was no excessive euphoria or over-confidence after the victory over Spain.”
“On Saturday there is a difficult game, but one that is within our grasp.”
Despite dominating the match, the #Azzurrini weren't able to break down a tough Polish rearguard this evening. Saturday's showdown with Belgium will now be decisive for #DiBiagio's men in the fight to progress from the group.
