It’s been magnificent: Gianluigi Buffon

The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper says the season was played in two different extremes in the French Ligue 1.

PSG was crowned champion of the competition with 91 points in 38 matches played.

The Parisians won 29 games, drew four and lost only five.

But just when they were going to become champions, the team had to play three matches to lift the French trophy.

And now, they finished their season with a 3-1 defeat against Stade Reims, but for goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon it has been a good season.

“It was a season of two halves,” he told the club’s official website.

“The first half was superb, the second half was more difficult.”

PSG ease to victory, but at a cost

French champions Paris Saint-Germain coast to a routine 4-0 win over Toulouse, but lose two stars in the process. BBC Sport have reported on PSG's...

“But for my first season here with Paris, it has been a beautiful experience,” he explained.

“I have learned a lot here, I’ve met some extraordinary people. It’s been magnificent.”

PSG’s midfielder, Julian Draxler, also commented about the team’s season.

“We really wanted to finish the season with a win. We started well but in the end, it wasn’t a great performance,” Draxler said.

“A lot of players have important matches coming up with their national teams. We weren’t focused enough.”

“It’s disappointing but we are still champions and we want to thank our fans for their support throughout the entire season,” he commented.

“We are sorry for tonight, but we will be back giving it everything next season.”
