Argentina’s national team coach Lionel Scaloni admits it would be better for Lautaro Martinez to be playing alongside Lionel Messi at club level.
Lautaro Martinez’s future at Inter Milan is shrowded in doubt right now, as the player has a 111 million Euro release clause that can be activated up until June 30th.
It remains to be seen if given the current financial plight facing football if anyone is willing to stump up that kind of cash.
Barcelona has been the front runners in the race for the 22-year-old striker.
However, talking to TyC Sports he admits he likes the idea.
“If he plays with Messi he is better, no doubt.”
“Beyond that later he will have to fight for the position as he did in Inter.”
“We have to be calm. If he changes clubs, maybe he does not have to be the undisputed starter.”
“It will not affect us, as long as he has a number of minutes that allows him to be in force.”
“He has a huge future but still has a lot to give.”
Quique Setien and Barcelona are thought to be looking for more goals next season and a long term replacement for Luis Suarez. If not Lautaro Martinez then who?
