Sergi Roberto turns 27 today, as we recall the most important goal of his career. As you are already guessing, it is…

Sergi Roberto joined Barcelona in 2006, at age of 14. He is La Masia graduate and has spent four seasons in Barcelona B, before his first team debut in November 2010.

He celebrates his 27th birthday today and he has already done so much in his career.

Roberto covers many positions in Barca’s team. He can play as full-back on both sides and anywhere in the midfield. He has 223 appearances for the club and has scored 8 goals in the Barcelona shirt.

One of those eight goals is for sure on the list of most important Champions League goals, ever.

Barcelona met Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16 in the 2016/17 season.Ā The French club won the first match 4-0, before their Camp Nou visit for the second leg of Champions League tie.

Valverde backsĀ misfiring Barcelona to return to scoringĀ

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is confident that their recent struggles in front of goal are nothing more than a blip.

The Catalans needed to score at least five without conceding. They started the game perfectly, but Edinson Cavani’s goal in the second half made the score 3-1. The Uruguayan has put the Catalans in a seemingly hopeless situation.

However, Neymar bagged a brace in 88 and 90+1 minute and set the stage for today’s birthday boy.

The Brazilian crossed the ball deep into the PSG’s box in the fifth minute of the stoppage time and Sergi Roberto perfectly finished it. Roberto’s last-gasp goal completed Barcelona’s sensationalĀ comeĀ back against the French champions, as they advanced to the quarter-finals with the aggregate score of 6-5.

It was an all-time Champions League classic and certainly a night that Sergi Roberto will never forget.

“I’m very happy that people always remind me of that goal,” he said, admitting that he has watched the game back many times. “The night after the goal, I couldn’t sleep,” he continued.

Barcelona was defeated by Juventus in the quarter-final of the Champions League that season and lost the La Liga title to the biggest rival Real Madrid.

Sergi Roberto has won 5 La Liga titles in his career. He has won the Copa del Rey the same amount of times and has 2 Champions League wins with Barcelona.

The 27-year old has been part of the Treble-winning team in 2014/15 season. He is a regular first-team player sinceĀ then.

Roberto has got himself “the Remontada man” nickname because of his winner against PSG. The moment will remain forever written in the Champions League’s history.
