‘Jack Grealish is a player Manchester United need’

Man United ‘need’ a player like Jack Grealish, and he doesn’t even need to be a guaranteed starter to make a big impact at Old Trafford, per Tim Sherwood.

Jack Grealish has been tipped to make a big exit this summer away from Aston Villa.

While the Villa captain has been standout individually, the same can not be said about his side who have struggled all season and currently lie in 18th place on the Premier League standings.

For Grealish, it appears his future at the club depends on Villa’s fortunes. If they go down, it’s widely accepted they will cash in on their club captain and most valuable asset, with United among his possible destinations.

And Sherwood certainly seems to be behind the 24-year-old moving to Old Trafford.

“Jack is a player they need.” the former Villa manager told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“They’ve obviously got great talent, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Daniel James, but they’re all very similar.

“I mean, they’re quality, but they’re all very similar, pace, in behind, and when a team sits back against them they struggled until Bruno Fernandes came. If Fernandes is missing again, he is the link that knits those players altogether.”

“So when they need to find a cute pass, Jack’s got that, and he’s got the drop of the shoulder where he can nick a free-kick on the edge of the box, he can bend it in the top corner, and then the team has to come out and then United can use their pace players.

“Jack Grealish is something they need. Put him in that midfield along with Pogba and Fernandes, with the pace and the runs the young boys will be making up top, he’s exactly what they need.

‘I’m not trying to sell him for Villa, but Villa’s only chance of keeping hold of Jack is to stay in the Premier League.”

It comes after Sherwood has claimed Grealish to Manchester United is more or less a done deal.
