Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has withdrawn from the Slovenia squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures
The 25-year-old is suffering from an injury to his arm from Atletico’s pre-season friendly against Arsenal in Singapore.
Atletico have now announced that Oblak will be granted two weeks off to recuperate.
“During the last few weeks, Jan Oblak has been suffering some discomfort on his arm. The same one he suffered a traumatism in our match against Arsenal in Singapore, which left him on the sidelines for roughly two weeks,” read a statement.
“Our medical staff has sent a report to the Slovenian Football Association regarding Oblak’s injury status. To recover in the best possible way, they’ve recommended he stay in Madrid during the international break.”
Slovenia will face both Bulgaria and Cyprus in their UEFA Nations League campaign.
Oblak has played the full 270 minutes of Atletico’s opening three fixtures of the 2018/19 La Liga campaign.
