Olympique Lyonnais President Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed he’s enjoying the battle for the second position in the French Ligue 1.
Lyon played out a 2-2 draw against LOSC Lille, both of which are currently in the three-man battle for the second position in the French league.
Loic Remy gave Lille the lead in the 17th minute before Nicolas Pepe doubled their lead. However, goals from Bertrand Traore and Moussa Dembele ensures Bruno Genesio’s men took a point from Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Lyon, who also played out a 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Tuesday to help bolster their chance of making the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League this season, are looking to improve on their third-place finish last season, and Aulas insists a draw is a fair result.
“A draw away against a direct opponent for the European places is a good result,” he said, according to The42.
“We saw a good match and a very good Olympique Lyonnais (performance).”
Meanwhile, Lille boss Christophe Galtier also revealed that he’s pleased with the result, despite his player’s frustration.
“There is automatically a feeling of frustration among the players,” said the Lille coach. “In the end, I’m happy with this point.”
