The German international is willing to fight for his place in Bayern Munich even though the Bavarians don’t see him as a part of their future buildup.
Former Manchester City defender, Jerome Boateng has stated that he does not intend to run away from his situation at Bayern Munich. It has become clear that the former World Cup winner is not going to be in the long-term plans of the Bundesliga giants.
However, the veteran defender has taken a stance which will see himself staying in Bavaria even though it might not guarantee him sufficient game time next season.
Already, the club’s president, Uli Hoeness has advised him to leave the club and seek a new challenge.
It is clear that Bayern Munich do not see Boateng as a part of their plans for the future but the defender is willing to fight for his place in the starting XI.
In the recently concluded 2018/19 Bundesliga season, Boateng had lost his place to Niklas Sule and did not feature in the cup final win over RB Leipzig either. This was a clear signal of the management’s intentions but Boateng maintains that he is as motivated as ever.
“I can imagine myself staying at Bayern, I’m still motivated and I’m going to be ready for the new season,” the veteran defender stated while speaking to Kicker.
Regardless of his wishes, it is evident that Boateng needs a fresh challenge. With his contract set to expire in 2021 and reports of interest from the likes of Internazionale and PSG, it is time for the centre-back to make a wise move.
Even though he has shown himself to be ready to fight for his Bayern Munich career, Boateng’s body language says something else. The defender did not celebrate the title win with his teammates and went straight into the tunnel, hinting that his time at Bayern is nearing its end.
