AS Roma’s Juan Jesus believes that it would be unwise for Liverpool to underestimate them, as they didn’t reach the semi-finals of the Champions League by “accident”
The Serie A side are set to travel to Anfield next week, for the first leg of their semi-final tie against Liverpool with many pundits predicting that the hosts will overcome Roma comfortably and make the final in Kiev on 26 May.
But Jesus feels that it is unfair to rule out Roma’s chances, as they progressed to this stage of the competition on their own merit with the side having topped their group stage against the likes of Chelsea and Atletico Madrid and they recently knocked Barcelona out.
“It’s a very important semi-final,” Jesus told Sky (via Football-Italia).
“Both for Roma and for every player in this squad. We’ve gone a long road and done our best to reach this semi-final, it didn’t happen by accident, it’s not like we were parachuted there.
“We’ve put in some great performances against great teams, and now we come to the semi-final with Liverpool. It will be a beautiful match.”
