Joao Felix only needs little time before he’ll be challenging for the Ballon d’Or, as per former Atletico winger Simao Sabrosa.
Joao Felix will be a success at Atletico and also challenge for the Ballon d’Or in no time, as per Simao.
The 20-year-old joined from Benfica last summer following a promising season that saw him net 20 goals in 43 appearances.
Felix has failed to replicate that form with Atletico, scoring only four goals in La Liga and another two in the Champions League so far.
Injuries have also hampered his progress and there are already doubts about whether he was right to join Los Rojiblancos.
Despite his issues, ex-Atleti and Barcelona player Simao is confident he will become a success in the Spanish capital and establish himself as one of the best players in the world.
“I think he can get to the Ballon d’Or. He is in a phase of adjustment, it’s not easy,” Simao told BTV.
“Atletico’s way of playing is different from that of Benfica and the first few months were not easy.
“I know that it bothers him to be substituted, but he has to think about the team having the opportunity to win.
“You have to be cool to attack in the Simeone team.”
Joao Felix himself also recently spoke of his desire to win the Ballon d’Or award.
