Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo gave him “a lot” of advice during the Nations League with Portugal last month.

At 19, Felix is already the world’s third most expensive player after Atletico signed him up this summer from Benfica for €126m.

The teenage forward, who is dubbed as the “new Ronaldo”, rose to stardom last season by bagging 15 goals and nine assists to inspire Benfica to a 37th Primeira Liga title. He even scored a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.

But now Felix will take on a new challenge at the Wanda Metropolitano, where he will replace Atletico’s old star man Antoine Griezmann, who now plays for Barcelona, as the club’s newest number seven.

Therefore, expectations will be huge on the Portugal international’s young shoulders. Although adapting to Spanish football may require some patience and understanding on the fans’ behalf.

Like any other superstar, however, Felix already knows how to deal with pressure and revealed some pointers Ronaldo himself gave him.

The pair played together for the first time last month in Portugal’s 3-1 Nations League win over Switzerland, which saw Ronaldo smash home a hat-trick.

When asked by a supporter if he got some tips from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Felix replied in an AMA with Bleacher Report: “Yes, a lot.

“In the first game that I played. He gave me a lot of advice. [He said] to be calm, to play my football.”

Despite joining Atletico this summer, Felix is relishing the prospect of taking on Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard in La Liga next season.

“Hazard,” replied the Portuguese, when asked which player he’s looking forward to taking on in Spain.

“Because he’s one of… he’s an idol that I’ve watched before and I’d like to see him play.”

Interestedly, when asked which league he would like to play in other than Spain and Portugal, Felix replied: “Premier League.”

He also picked Neymar and American Basketball stars Lebron James and Ben Simmons as three people he would pick to dine with.

AC Milan legend Kaka, on the other hand, was Felix’s childhood idol.
