Joao Mario has left Italian Lega Serie A side Internazionale Milan to join Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Premier League.

Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario has been playing professionally since 2011 when he debuted for Sporting CP.

In 2014 he was loaned to Vitoria Setubal, until 2016 when he joined Internazionale Milan in the Serie A.

He was loaned in 2018 to West Ham United and today he moved to Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow on a season-long loan with an €18 million option to buy.

“I’m very happy to join Lokomotiv,” he told the press according to Football Italia.

“I know this is a great club. They’ve signed many famous and experienced players.”

“I asked [Manuel] Fernandes and Eder about Lokomotiv when we played for the Portuguese national team,” he added.

“I consulted Eder before the transfer. He told me Lokomotiv were a good team with a wonderful atmosphere.”

Joao Mario concluded: “Their participation in the Champions League is also an important factor.”
