Joe Cole praises Lampard’s impact on Chelsea’s youths

Former England international Joe Cole, spoke about Frank Lampard massive effect at Chelsea FC since the first moment he arrived at the club.

Chelsea is currently going through a very important phase in which Frank Lampard is making several arrangements, Joe Cole certainly noticed this new era.

The Blues have a manager who pays a lot of attention to detail, he already made a major impression last season at Derby County and he is trying to bring the same momentum to the London club.

Cole wanted to talk about the new manager’s predisposition to help out the new players, he underlined Lampard’s impressive work with the youth academy players.

In fact, there is a great example of a young product who completely succeeded under Frank Lampard already.

Young Mason Mount served two loans during his youth academy years, one at Vitesse in Holland and another one at Derby County.

Why is that familiar you say? Because Frank Lampard himself requested young Mason’s loan during his first season as a professional manager, the lad gave him incredible results.

Now that Frankie came to Chelsea as the new manager, it was obvious he would bring Mount back to the Blues and give him the opportunity of a lifetime.

The youngster hasn’t disappointed so far in the pre-season, his return to Chelsea has been nothing short of incredible.

Out of the four matches that the Blues have played in the pre-season, Mason Mount starred in three out of four.

The lad scored goals against St- Patrik’s Athletic in the inaugural 4-0 win for Lampard’s side, this performance gave the manager the confidence to keep giving him more minutes.

Despite not scoring in the next two games against Kawasaki Frontale and FC Barcelona, Mount still mesmerized the world with his quick thinking as a playmaker.

The fourth match saw Lampard leaving Mount on the bench, but he came in during the second half and scored a brace in order to confirm his impressive return to his childhood club.

The work of both Frank and Mount didn’t go unnoticed by Joe Cole.

Southgate comments on James Madison controversy

James Maddison is yet to make his premiere appearance for the English national team. Leicester's main creative force was released from the national team duty...

“Lampard galvanized the club. No one would have asked for the club to be handed a transfer ban, but it’s allowed them to take a step back,” Cole said on talkSPORT.

“Younger players in and around the building are looking in and seeing that they’re going to get an opportunity.”

“Frank says he’s going to get players in and around the squad that are ready to play in the first team.”

“Mason Mount is a top player. He’s produced the goods on loan in Holland [with Vitesse] and in England [with Derby],” he added.

“Every challenge he’s had he’s met. For me that’s a sign that a player is going to go places. Every time a question is asked of him, he performs.”

“You’ve got to take your chance if you’re a young lad. It might be five or ten minutes, that’s the nature of the beast. You get the feeling if Mason gets the nod he will produce.”

How well could Lampard perform this season?

The idea that the transfer ban could limit Chelsea’s chances of being competitive this season is nothing but a mirage at this moment.

Everybody at the club is confident that the English manager was the best possible option for the Blues, they believe he will take them to a good position next season.

Perhaps the ban will affect them in winning titles, but Frank can at least work on building a competitive squad for the next five years if the board allows him to work without bothering him.

The young players inside the squad are very excited for this season with the transfer ban, they know that chances will come and many of them have the quality to help the club improve.

Lampard is smart enough to bring forward the first generation of top players from the youth academy.

The English manager will make a mixture of star players and youngsters that could become the base for the club’s future.
