Schalke’s footballer Jonjoe Kenny has joined the team this past summer, and he’s already making sure people know his name in the German competition.
English right-back Jonjoe Kenny has been playing professionally since he debuted with Everton back in 2014.
But the player has been loaned three times already: in 2015 to Wigan Athletic, in 2016 to Oxford United, and now in 2019 to Schalke 04.
And is with the German Bundesliga side where he has enjoyed his best football even after just playing three regular-season games.
“The Bundesliga is a good place to be,” Kenny told the official website of the competition.
“Young players get a lot of playing time here and can show themselves on the big stage.”
“He was an all-rounder, could play left, right, in the middle,” said Kenny of the World Cup and Champions League-winning former Bayern Munich and Germany captain, Philipe Lahm.
“For me, he was always outstanding and the best right-back.”
“You should always have a positive attitude and set goals,” he added.
“From the cooks to the equipment manager to the other players, everyone welcomed me immediately. The fans have also played a big part in making me feel at home here.”
“In both cities, people work hard and have the same mentality. My mother is a teacher, my father a taxi driver,” said Kenny.
“They instilled this mentality in me and made my dream possible. This shows that hard work can be worth it.”
