The agent of Jorginho has revealed that his client is desperate to complete what they believe is an “opportunity of a lifetime” move to Manchester City this summer
Pep Guardiola has identified the Italian midfielder as his top target for this summer’s transfer window.
However, City have been unable to agree on a deal with Napoli after the Serie A giants rejected their £44m bid.
The Light Blues value Jorginho at £60m, which is something that City are reluctant to match and they are now threatening to abandon their attempt at signing the 26-year-old in favour of pursuing moves for Jean Seri and Mateo Kovacic.
But Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, remains hopeful that a deal can be made.
“We are talking about a guy whom Manchester City represents the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Santos, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
“He wouldn’t be sad if he stayed in Naples. Indeed, he’s happy and well in Naples.
“He would be unhappy, eventually, though because he would lose a great opportunity like Manchester City.
“My feelings about the deal? Anything can happen. It’s still all open.”
City are currently beginning their preparations for next season where they hope to become the first team since Manchester United in 2009 to successfully retain their Premier League crown.
