Jorginho’s agent teased that “anything is possible” in regards to a Serie A return despite having a “positive year” for both Chelsea and Italy.
Following Maurizio Sarri’s summer exit for Serie A champions Juventus, Chelsea supporters feared Jorginho would follow the Italian coach out of Stamford Bridge himself.
Yet, the 27-year-old remains a Blue to this day and he’s since won over Sarri’s replacement Frank Lampard.
The new Chelsea boss has even made him vice-captain and the club’s main penalty-taker for this season.
And Jorginho proved his spot-kick abilities once again on Saturday by scoring a penalty against Greece to set Italy on their way to a 2-0 win. It was enough to book their spot in next summer’s Euro 2020 tournament.
“It has certainly been a positive year for Jorginho,” the player’s agent, Joao Santos, told Radio Sportiva.
“He is doing well for the Nazionale and can take part in the Euros. He always converts his penalties, I am very happy for him, as he is working so hard every day.
“Naturally, it was not positive when Giampiero Ventura was the Italy coach, but he has slowly become the first-choice in that midfield.
“It certainly helps that he plays for Chelsea, because it’s a very intense style of football in England and he learned a lot from both Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard.”
On what’s next for the former Napoli man, Santos said: “I think Jorginho can do very well at the Euros and, why not, also at the next World Cup.
“As for a return to Serie A, anything is possible, and he will always feel the desire to come back home.”
Jorginho has managed two goals and one assist in 11 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions this season.
