Jose Mourinho wanted to give his two cents on Frank Lampard’s odds as the new Chelsea FC manager, he thinks he will succeed.

There really isn’t a more authorized voice than Jose Mourinho to talk about Frank Lampard’s new job as the Chelsea FC manager.

The Portuguese coach is widely considered the Englishman’s mentor, he suffered a League Cup elimination by the hands of his own pupil.

One could even say that Jose’s sacking procedures started during that game, this was the perfect example of the master getting bested.

Even though this happened, Jose doesn’t hold any grudges against his former player. In fact, the Portuguese manager praises Lampard every chance he gets because he is confident about his skills as a manager.

Despite not being certain about the results he is going to get, Mourinho wanted to remind people that they should separate the player from the manager.

This happened before Chelsea went to Molineux Stadium and defeated Wolverhampton with a smashing 2-5 result, perhaps this performance can convince Mourinho.

However, Frank Lampard knows that he needs to do a lot more in order to impress his mentor.

Jose will tell you everything to your face, he will be honest about it and quite unapologetic.

During his tour in Spain, Jose Mourinho spoke about Frank to La Liga’s communication staff while he waits for the ideal job offer to come.

When asked about Frank ahead of this game, Mourinho was as honest as ever.

“One thing is the player, another thing is the manager,” Mourinho said to La Liga.

“The player, I don’t think any Chelsea fan will disagree with me if I say is one of the top five most important players of Chelsea history, and probably some will say not top five, maybe top three.”

“Another thing is his managerial career, one year of experience in Derby where he showed good qualities and now he has Chelsea in his hands.”

“He plays for big things. He plays Champions League, he played a European Super Cup, he had already big matches in his hands, and he has to grow up with the level of experiences, which I believe he can because he has huge experience.”

“I cannot separate from the fact that football has been always in his life. He was born son of a player, he grew up [nephew] of a football manager, he became a player, he became a top player… I think he has all the conditions to succeed.”

Lampard responded against Wolverhampton.

After these words from Mourinho that sounded a bit like a challenge, Frank Lampard’s perfect response was with an unexpected victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad was known for beating some of the best clubs in the country at Molineux Stadium.

In fact, the Blues were considered one of the weaker opponents from the Top 6 on paper.

Lampard responded to this with a dominating performance from his youngsters, the English manager keeps trusting the academy products and they are starting to respond.

Abraham scored a hat-trick today, while Tomori and Mason Mount keep proving that Frankie was right to bring them from Derby County.

Sometimes Mourinho can have a prophetic demeanor to him, perhaps he is right about Lampard’s ability to coach.

This 2-5 victory might be the start of a new season for the Blues, they needed something like this in order to gain more confidence.

Frank Lampard must be thrilled to get this victory in a moment where the fans were starting to doubt him.

Jose Mourinho’s words of encouragement served as motivation for the Chelsea manager, he is getting it from his mentor even today.
