Manchester United are preparing to host the reigning European champions, Liverpool, as the Red Devils look to get out of their current slump.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the hot-seat, this is one of his last chances to turn the season around for United.
However, the task will be the most difficult one imaginable. Liverpool are not only the current Champions League winners, but also the holders of an eight-match winning streak.
While Manchester United is struggling mightily, their defence is still the second-best in the league.
With the arrival of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, the Red Devils gained stability at the back.
Juan Mata is optimistic about the prospect of playing Liverpool.
He excitedly wrote on his blog about an opportunity to play the derby.
“On Sunday [against Liverpool] we have a great chance to change the dynamic and we are all very motivated to take the win.
“We are United, we are playing at home and we will give everything to be able to take the victory that our fans deserve in such a special game.”
Mata also addressed the injury of his Spanish colleague and teammate David de Gea.
“The bad news from that game was that David [De Gea] wasn’t able to finish the match due to an injury problem after making some great saves.
“I hope that it won’t be anything major and he can be back with us soon.”
This match comes in a bad moment for United, given that they’re in awful form compared to Liverpool destroying everything in its path.
However, the derbies at Old Trafford are always special, and hopefully Sunday can gives us something extra.
