Andrea Agnelli highlights the importance of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Juventus team while also effectively ruling out his departure.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s ambition of leading Juventus to Champions League glory ended in a disappointed as they were knocked out of the competition at the hands of Lyon.
It was not the first time that Ronaldo’s hopes resulted in dismay, having been unable to lead his side past the Champions League quarter-finals in his debut season.
It was suggested that the Portuguese had become frustrated with the lack of progress at the club and would consider moving on with the season now over.
A report even suggested that before the Covid-19 outbreak, he was pushing for a move to Paris Saint-Germain with the vision of forming a deadly partnership with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, however, insists there’s no truth to those rumors.
“I am entirely convinced he will stay,” Agnelli told Sky Sport Italia.
“I think the report was down to an interview from several months ago, which just happened to be published just before we played against a French team. It’s an old media trick.
“No, I can assure you that Ronaldo remains a pillar of Juventus.”
