Juventus are sweating over the fitness of Paulo Dybala after a scan on the Argentine forward revealed a thigh muscle strain.
Juventus are hopeful Dybala will be fit in time to feature when their Champions League campaign resumes in August.
The Argentine went off in the first half of Juve’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria on Sunday night. A sour way to end the day for the Bianconeri as they won their ninth consecutive Serie A title.
Juventus have now issued an update on Paulo Dybala on Monday morning.
“Paulo Dybala was subjected to radiological tests at J|Medical this morning which revealed an elongation of the rectus femoral muscle of the left thigh. His conditions will be evaluated day by day.” a statement said on the club’s website.
It is unlikely the forward will recover in time to play the remainder of theri Serie A games.
However, with a mountain to overcome against Lyon in the Champions League, Sarri will need all firepower available.
Juventus face Lyon in about two weeks and would need to overturn a 2-1 deficit going into that game.
With 11 goals and seven assists in the Serie A this term, Dybala is the club’s second contributor to goals only behind Cristiano Ronaldo. His absence will come as a huge blow for Maurizio Sarri.
It’s now a race against time for the Argentine to recover full fitness before the Champions League resumes.
