Kai Havertz is the most exciting teenager in German football and is already playing his third season as a regular first-team player for Bayer Leverkusen.

Still just 19, the Aachen-born Kai Havertz is quickly developing into a fundamental feature of a Leverkusen team seeking to restore their place among Europe’s leading clubs.

Havertz has a keen eye for a pass, he picks out his team-mates with ease and moves into great positions to pick up the ball before building attacks. He is already compared to German football legends like Toni Kroos and Michael Ballack, but the teenager admits that he loves being compared to Mesut Ozil.

“He has always been a player whom I love to watch and someone whose path I have followed. Mesut Ozil is a really great player, who has done a lot for the national team and also his clubs.”

According to Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller, “Kai has exceptional abilities and is already blessed with a footballing maturity that sets him apart from other players of his age”

The German Football Association honored him with the Fritz Walter Gold Medal for the year 2018 – an award handed out to the country’s finest talent in the under-19 category.

The Germany international will leave the team after they were relegated to the English Championship for the next season.

Having made his debut at 17, Havertz is the club’s youngest ever Bundesliga debutant and in the 2017/18 season broke Timo Werner’s record to become the youngest player to reach 50 Bundesliga appearances.

He is a technically gifted player, who is comfortable on the ball on either foot. He can create, can assist and can score. The German has already played 92 games for Leverkusen at the age of 19. Kai has scored 20 goals and noted 21 assists in his career by this point.

Bayer Leverkusen coach Heiko Herrlich is well aware that he has got a special player in Havertz and says he hasn’t seen a more talented player since Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.

Kai Havertz has scored five goals in his previous six games in the German league and helped his team to reach the fifth place on the table. He is the best player of Bayer Leverkusen and has appeared in each one of the 22 Bundesliga games for the club this season.

He made his debut for the German national team in September 2018 and provided a perfect pass for Serge Gnabry’s goal in his first start for his country.

Many top European clubs are interested in the 19-year old talent, but Bayern Munich are the favorites for his signature.
