Kaka: ‘Neymar will win the next Ballon d’Or’

Cristiano Ronaldo won his fifth Ballon d’Or and equaled Lionel Messi at the number of trophies, but Kaka believes that the Ronaldo-Messi hegemony regarding the most wanted individual trophy has ended.

Kaka is the last player to have won the Ballon d’Or before Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi monopolized the fight for the trophy. Kaka won the trophy in 2007 while playing for AC Milan. The Brazilian has also played for Real Madrid together with Cristiano Ronaldo and has congratulated his former teammate: “It is not easy to win this trophy. It’s even harder to win it five times.”

Since 2007, when Kaka won the award, only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo won it, fact never encountered before in the history of the award, that was first introduced in 1956 by France Football magazine. “It’s funny that I won the last Ballon d’Or before Messi and Ronaldo because this way I will be remembered by everybody”, Kaka said.

Kaka: Neymar can lead PSG to Champions League glory

Kaka believes Neymar staying at Paris Saint-Germain could be a good thing as he can be the leader who leads the club to their first-ever Champions League title.

However, the Brazilian feels that the two superstars have ended their dominance and that the next winner will be his co-national, Neymar: “Cristiano has a big personal motivation, while Messi might have another. I think it’s fair that Ronaldo and Messi won the last trophies. For me, Messi is a genius. Cristiano is the symbol of modern football, he is the ultimate football player. I think Neymar will be the next player to win the Ballon d’Or. Neymar is an excellent player for any team.”

Kaka also spoke about his future, saying that he is currently evaluating his motivation to continue playing football: “I have some offers from China, but until I evaluate whether I am motivated or not to continue playing, I will not make a decision.”
