Kevin Kampl insists there is no favorite team to advance in the Champions League semis between Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig.
Atletico Madrid beat defending champions Liverpool 2-4 on aggregate in Champions League Round of 16 prior to the coronavirus hiatus.
They now prepare to face RB Leipzig, who knocked another Premier League team, Tottenham, 4-0 on aggregate to reach the last eight stage.
Diego Simeone’s side have the benefit of experience over their opponents, having made it to two finals in the competition in recent years. But with both of them ending in a defeat to city rivals Real Madrid, they will hope for success on Thursday in a bid to ultimately lift the trophy this time.
Kevin Kampl is well aware of the qualities of his opponent but insists his side have enough quality of their own.
“Atletico Madrid have been one of the best teams in Europe for years. They have a lot of experience on the field and have already made it to the final in recent seasons,” beIN SPORTS quotes Kampl.
“We have a great squad and are in no way inferior to Atletico’s quality. We are always dangerous for goals, no matter what formation we play with or who will be on the pitch.
“There is no real favorite on Thursday.”
