N’Golo Kante believes Chelsea’s season can only be considered a success with the Europa League triumph despite admitting the Blues are not favourites for continental glory in Baku.
The France international has won three major trophies(two Premier League titles and the FA Cup) in the last three seasons since moving to the English top flight.
The former Caen ace was instrumental to France World Cup success in 2018 and remains focused on winning more titles with Chelsea after seeing off Slavia Prague on Thursday to set up a semi-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.
After the game, Kante highlighted the importance of winning the competition as they battle to secure a Champions League ticket next season.
“We can make the season beautiful by winning the Europa League,” Kante told reporters via Goal at Stamford Bridge.
“That’s the only title we can win now, so it would be great to win the Europa League.
“We’re not favourites. We played a good match tonight and we will do all we can to get to the final. But we’re not favourites.”
Maurizio Sarri bemoaned his team’s lacklustre display in the second half which led to a nervy ending as Slavia attempted to pull off what would have been an unprecedented comeback.
The Blues will switch focus to the League front when they play Burnley on Monday night.
