With a double scored by Karim Benzema during the second half, Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid managed to rescue three points vs Eibar.
After that painful defeat in Mestalla last week, Real Madrid had a new opportunity to get three points at home when Eibar visited them earlier on Saturday.
French manager Zinedine Zidane is currently in the process of finding the players who are going to accompany him next season for the revolution that he is going to lead, he needed to give some of his players an opportunity to prove that they want to stay in the club.
The gaffer placed compatriot Karim Benzema next to Gareth Bale on the attack, he also gave Federico Valverde and Marco Asensio a chance to play alongside those two forwards.
But the most interesting decision was to leave Marcelo on the bench in order to give Sergio Reguilon his chance to shine as the squad’s left-back for this match, Los Blancos weren’t apparently going to suffer during this match but the script resulted in a very different storyline for the locals.
During the initial minutes, the fans made themselves present by jeering Gareth Bale during the first ten minutes of the match after the Welshman failed a couple of clear chances that left him w exposed with the rest of the fans who still wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Even before the match we could recognize Zinedine Zidane’s attitude when he was questioned about specific players, he defended Marcelo or Varane, but was very vague when the press asked him about Gareth Bale’s future.
The Wales captain doesn’t seem to mind staying in the club getting paid, even if that means not performing well for his squad.
After those two opportunities in which we could attest to Bale’s lethargic state, Eibar was able to draw first-blood through a beautiful finish by Marco Cardona with a chip over Keylor Navas’ head.
Real Madrid left the first half with a negative result, Los Blancos were losing a match against one of the most mediocre clubs in La Liga.
Zidane’s frustration was beginning to show during the start of the second half, he knew that his players needed a quick reaction if they wanted to get back into the game but he didn’t seem to know the best possible way to motivate them.
However, there was a player who decided to make an appearance right in time and got help from two midfielders who delivered results when the team needed them the most. These two midfielders were Marco Asensio and Toni Kroos.

The Spanish youngster was the first one to respond, he sent a precise cross from the right wing that gave Karim Benzema a chance to connect with a header and scored Real Madrid’s first goal of the evening.
Just minutes before that first goal, Benzema got a goal disallowed after scoring it in clear offside but that only motivated him to get that reaction in order to help his squad.
Karim was very close to getting the second goal numerous times, but he was either unfortunate or denied by the Eibar defense.
With ten minutes still to play at a half-empty Santiago Bernabeu, Toni Kroos made his appearance with a play that was almost identical to the one where the French striker scored the first goal.
The German midfielder sent another cross from the very same position, and Karim jumped in the air to connect a new header that gave Real Madrid the winning goal.
With this victory, Los Blancos remain steady in the third position and move only two points behind Atletico Madrid before the Colchoneros have to play FC Barcelona at Camp Nou later today.
Zidane was saved from a major embarrassment by his compatriot, Benzema is the best Real Madrid player of the season.
