The footballer is working hard to be ready for the AFCON Finals to be played in Egypt at the end of the month.
Uganda is set to play in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations this summer. The team will take part in Group A, together with the hosts Egypt, DR Congo, and Zimbabwe.
And for footballer Allan Kateregga, this is a good opportunity to push his country to higher levels.
“It’s an honor to represent my country at any level but a special honor and privilege to be part of the team preparing for Afcon finals in Egypt, it helps me inspire myself to greater heights,” he told Uganda newspaper Monitor.
“My goal is to help the country better our performance from the last finals and everything else shall come after that.”
“That’s what competition at this level does, I guess. But it came as a surprise to me too. I thought I had made a fine tune of myself,” he said about his recent call-ups.
“Ending up at Maritzburg was to try and make my Afcon dream a possibility and am glad it has.”
The 25-year-old left winger has played in only two teams since his debut: Cape Town City FC and Maritzburg United FC.
He has also only played four times with the national team, three as a starter and once as a substitute.
