Roy Keane insists Anthony Martial is not a good enough striker to be the main man at Manchester United.
Anthony Martial was given the lead role in United’s attack against Liverpool at Anfield.
Granted he was being fed scraps for most of the game, given Liverpool’s dominance.
Be it one or a hundred and one when there’s a chance to score they are expected to deliver.
So when the ball fell at Martial’s feet and he had a glorious chance to get United in the game, he fluffed it.
The ball ballooned over Alisson beckers bar and a rare chance went begging.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Keane feels that Martial has failed one too many times at United on the big stage.
“Anthony Martial has come to Manchester United and the big strikers score in the big moments.”
“But his miss sums up his career at the club – excellent build-up play, but you have to hit the target.”
“The big strikers who are remembered by the supporters hit the target and the back of the net.”
“That’s why that guy is not quite good enough for Manchester United.
“That moment summed him up.”
His former teammate Gary Neville was less than impressed either.
