Former Borussia Dortmund defensive midfielder Sebastian Kehl is excited to see what his ex-club can do in the 2019-2020 Bundesliga season.
Borussia Dortmund had a perfect pre-season as the Black and Yellow won all of their seven friendly matches.
And then the team defeated Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup and Preussen Munster in the DFB-Pokal.
Now, former defensive midfielder Sebastian Kehl believes the team is more than ready to tackle the new German Bundesliga season.
“Next week, we’ll mix it up again and work hard on a few things,” he said to the club’s official website.
“Our preparations, as the coach has repeatedly emphasized, are not yet over.”
“It was important for everyone to get a run-out, show themselves and make their case,” said Kehl about the Munster match.
“But we could’ve seen a bit more from one or two. There wasn’t enough tempo in our play in the first half; lots from side to side, not enough movement or depth.”
“In short, we were missing everything we expect from our game.”
He explained: “We were involved in some good moves, played with more purpose and scored some nice goals.”
“It’s difficult to compare the two games. There’s always a different type of tension in the DFB Cup First Round.”
“And the Super Cup was a superb test of our mettle at this level. Now we’ve played two teams who are not in the Bundesliga,” he concluded.
