The former Celtic striker feels that Kieran Tierney might want to look at options outside Scotland after seeing a fellow countryman succeed with Liverpool.
Kris Boyd is certain that Andy Robertson’s success at Liverpool is making Kris Tierney consider his options. The young full-back is developing rapidly at Celtic and is a full Scotland international.
However, after seeing Andy Robertson lift the Champions League title with Liverpool, Tierney might want to think about leaving. And Boyd says that Kieran Tierney needs to jump at such an opportunity if it presents itself.
The youngster has been linked with moves to some of the most prestigious clubs in Europe but nothing has happened so far. Moreover, Kieran Tierney has been extremely loyal with the Bhoys which is why he has stayed put.
But after seeing his fellow countryman enjoy so much success, the one-club man might want to consider his options.
While speaking to Football Scotland, the veteran striker said that a good opportunity doesn’t come around often and that Tierney should make a quick decision.
He said (quoted by Football Scotland): “When you get the opportunity to move to some of the clubs Kieran Tierney has been linked with, it doesn’t come along very often and it might just be the right time.
“You see them in the Scotland squad together, Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney, and they are the two that are always compared to each other.
“He has seen Robertson lift the Champions League, that’ll annoy him, he’ll be pleased, but it’ll annoy him.
“I wouldn’t be surprised this summer if Kieran Tierney goes also.”
Like every player, Kieran Tierney would want to win the Champions League. However, he is still young and has time on his side. Indeed, another great season with the reigning Scottish champions might bring him close to lifting important silverware in the future.
