FC Barcelona has not one but three secret weapons this season, they have a powerful trident that includes Messi, Suarez, and Dembele.

This new season for FC Barcelona does seem a little bit familiar when you compare it with other seasons like the one where Neymar was still playing for the club, the inclusion of Ousmane Dembele has brought a whole new light to the squad that turned this team into a highly competitive foe.

The Catalan club has a new trident of players who can improve each other, all three have a different set of characteristics and they are all finally starting to work together almost perfectly.

The three of them have been so great during the season, that they have already scored 50 goals and provided 24 assists in all competitions they have played this far.

We are going to break down the contribution each of these three players has given to the FC Barcelona trident, they are in good spirits to maybe try to challenge the 122 goals that the trident composed by Suarez, Messi, and Neymar accomplished in the 2014-2015 season when the club won their most recent Champions League.

According to Diario Sport, that trio is the best in football history.

Lionel Messi

The all-time top member of many historical Barcelona tridents since he began his career back in 2006, Lionel Messi has apparently found a pace for scoring goals that doesn’t surprise anybody.

The Argentine has already scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists, he is the absolute leader of this Barcelona and he is the one who will decide if the Catalan club can fight for all the titles this season.

The fact that he is performing well against any club in Europe this season is very telling, Messi wants to win another Champions League and make it five on his trophy cabinet for this prestigious competition.

But Messi’s influence goes far beyond only goals and assists, he is the glue that puts together the whole squad, he contributes quite a bit on defense also.

Luis Suarez

The Uruguay international was in low form during the last couple of seasons, people were even starting to wonder if we would no longer see the best version of Luis Suarez.

De Gea inconsolable after Barca gaffe

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea apologised to the entire team and remained inconsolable after his mistake against Barcelona on Tuesday night. De Gea let in a...

It took him only half a season to respond to all those doubts, the man is even keeping Lionel Messi’s pace in La Liga as he has already scored 14 goals and provided 7 assists.

The only pending assignment for Suarez is to deliver in the Champions League, we haven’t seen him play well in this competition since 2015 when he was an essential part of the Barcelona that won the treble.

But having Lionel Messi by his side is something that can help Luis tremendously, these two players understand each other on a scale that we may never see again in the Catalan club.

Ousmane Dembele

Despite having started the current season with doubts due to his lack of discipline, there is nobody in the world who can question Ousmane Dembele’s incredible skills.

The young talent isn’t only one of the best dribblers in the world today, he is also one of those players who can score a goal during a very tense moment when the team needs him the most.

It was he who scored the goal that gave Barcelona their first trophy in the Spanish Supercup against Sevilla, it has also been he who has helped the Catalan club remain at the top of La Liga with important contributions throughout the season.

The French winger has already scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists this season. We are before three players who could make history this season, Dembele is a very important part of it regardless of how many times he arrives late to the training sessions.
