The England international had somehow managed to get himself forgotten at Anfield but is now back as he scored twice in the 7-0 “friendly” win against Chester.
Injuries have been quite an issue for Daniel Sturridge in recent times – he had only nine appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool last season. However, that did not stop him from netting twice and showing an exquisite form overall on the field.
Sturridge also played in six games while he was at West Brom but did not manage to find the net.
“I saw a lot of good things from Daniel,” Klopp said, according to Goal.
“Impressed? It takes a lot for Daniel to impress me because I know about his quality.”
“Very positive week and today he looked really good. We started playing football when he was involved. That’s how it is.”
Sturridge was far from the only star on the field as new acquisitions Fabinho and Naby Keita made their debuts for Liverpool.
