Ahead of the Manchester Derby on Wednesday, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp attempted to play mind games with the Manchester United camp.
Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp has to do whatever he can in order to get Manchester City to lose some points in the final stretch of the season.
Last weekend’s disappointing 4-0 defeat that Manchester United suffered at Everton was a great indicator that the Reds shouldn’t harbor any hopes for Wednesday.
We have a Manchester Derby taking place at Old Trafford and that’s a huge moment for Liverpool’s hopes of actually winning the title.
They know that United can make a greater effort to at least not lose their match at home and Jurgen Klopp has already begun his mind games ahead of this match.
The best possible tactic is to taunt the Red Devils by telling them they are not capable of winning against Manchester City on Wednesday.
In fact, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad has proven they are not ready for this new challenge against the Citizens.
They have no chances of winning if they play in the same way they did last Sunday against Everton at Goodison Park.
But Klopp knows that he can’t lose hope, he did his part last weekend by issuing a stern warning to all Manchester United fans ahead of this Derby.
🗣 "The Manchester derby is not something that we can influence. And it doesn't look like United are in a place to influence it either."

Liverpool don’t even need Manchester United to win this Manchester Derby, they will do just fine with a draw at Old Trafford and that is something completely possible.
The Red Devils have dramatically dropped their level of performance in recent weeks but playing a Manchester Derby is a different type of motivation that could bring out the best in them.
“I think I’ll be watching if there’s nothing else to do,” said Klopp via The Daily Mail.
“Hopefully I can avoid that (shouting), we have no influence. It doesn’t look like at the moment that Man Utd can really… what was the result today? 3-0? 4-0?”
“So we’ll see, City will be ready and we’ll see if United are ready as well. It’s a normal game, it’s a game they have to play, we played there and had a draw.”
“We had to play that game at Manchester United when they were in a much better moment. It was a 0-0.”
“If United gets a point and whatever and we beat Huddersfield then go to Newcastle and even half think we have it, then we get a knock there, it’s all difficult.”
“We just have to stay focused on our things. That’s what has worked really well so far and I don’t see any reason why we should change that.”
🗣 Jurgen Klopp on the Manchester derby: “It is not something we can influence, and it does not look like United are in a place to, either.”
🗣 Virgil van Dijk: “They (Man Utd) need to do themselves a favour.”
They’ve both already accepted that Man Utd have no chance at all 😂 pic.twitter.com/78dKy0Fpag

Last year’s Derby under Jose Mourinho
We know that Manchester United fans ended up disliking Jose Mourinho due to the poor way he managed the club near the end of his spell.
However, the fans reckon that the Portuguese manager did many things right during his time at Manchester United.
Most of them remember their Manchester Derby victory from last season with special care, as the Red Devils prevented Manchester City from winning the Premier League at Old Trafford.
Even though this season would be slightly different, the Manchester United players know that losing at home would essentially give City the title again.
This is where the Red Devils need to start questioning the type of legacy they want to leave for this season.
Winning against Manchester City would prevent the Citizens from winning the double.
But beating Pep Guardiola’s side would effectively help Liverpool win the first Premier League title in history.
This has suddenly turned into a matter of priorities for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players, who would they like to help the most in the race for this season’s Premier League?
