Ronald Koeman is not ruling out becoming the Barcelona coach in the future.
The mounting pressure on Ernesto Valverde has only served to intensify those rumors.
Koeman who has led the Dutch national team to the Euro 2020 qualification, is committed to his current job but admits he does not know what the future holds.
In an interview reported by Marca, the Dutchman doesn’t appreciate the rumors but is not concerned with the situation.
“I have two more years left on my contract with the [Dutch] national team and I do not like to talk about Barcelona.”
“It’s uncomfortable for a lot of reasons; I currently have a job and it’s not fair to talk about this.”
“If they come, they come; and if they don’t, they don’t. There are more important things [to worry about] in life.”
“Anything can happen.”
Valverde’s job is apparently not safe irrespective of results, and Koeman is Barca’s first choice.
Koeman’s hunt for Euro 2020 success may be the only thing that keeps Valverde in a job until the end of the season.
