Barca boss Ronald Koeman believes ex-Juve player Miralem Pjanic can give his side one or two tips on stopping Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus.
On the 21st of October, Barcelona and Juventus will face-off in one of the most anticipated games of the Champions League campaign. Still on that fixture, there’s the also anticipated Ronaldo vs Messi battle to witness as well.
Lots of mind games are already in full swing from both camps. Just last week, Juve vice president Pavel Nedved claimed the Bianconeri are geared up to face the Catalan side.
Barca boss Ronald Koeman has now talked up the clash as well. In his comments, he hints his side could have a secret weapon’ in Miralem Pjanic.
The Bosnian midfielder joined Barcelona this summer from Juventus. Having played alongside Ronaldo for two seasons in Italy, the Barcelona boss is hopeful the midfielder will give some pointers on how they can stop CR7 and Juventus when they meet.
“It’s a very important competition. In theory we are the best in the group, but we have to show that.” Koeman said to the Barcelona website when asked about his Champions League group.
“We start at home against Ferencváros, which is an important game for which we have to prepare and analyse the opposition.”
“Juventus are showing every year that they have a strong team, with experience and a great player like Cristiano Ronaldo. We have Pjanic, who can give us a little more information about his former club.”
Going by that logic, Arthur Melo also moved from Barcelona to Juventus this summer and could equally offer his side the same ‘info’ about his former side.
It’s all mind games from both camps at the moment. The real talk will be on the pitch when both sides meet in less than two weeks from now.
No doubt, Ronaldo and company will be fired up to go all out for victory against Barcelona.
