Spain midfielder Koke insists he would have no problem taking another spot-kick for Spain following his miss in their shoot-out loss at the World Cup
The Atletico Madrid star missed the third penalty of Spain’s last-16 exit of the World Cup at the hands of hosts Russia.
Afterwards, Koke was seen covering his head with the Spain jersey.
But the 26-year-old is adamant he will bounce back from the setback.
“Every scenario runs through your head, you cannot stop thinking about it,” Koke told Marca.
“But as a footballer, this is what can happen and you must accept it. I must be able to deal with it and understand how I can bounce back.
“You must keep your head up and if the opportunity came up to take another penalty, I would volunteer, because you must be able to step up and show your character.
“I am very happy to return to the squad, it is always a feeling of great pride, and it took me a long time to accept my previous exclusion.
“It was a challenge to up my game and a reminder that you must always keep work.”
Koke has only ever taken and scored one penalty in normal playing time throughout his career, which occurred in a friendly 3-1 win for the Spain U23 side against Egypt U23’s.
