The former Manchester City star believes Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is better than what John Terry and Rio Ferdinand were.
Former Manchester City footballer, Vincent Kompany, has named Virgil van Dijk as the best center-back in the English Premier League.
He has put him ahead of John Terry and Rio Ferdinand.
“I would bring it back to Virgil van Dijk, he’s not been on the scene as long as Terry, Ferdinand who has been around for a long time but the signs he’s shown in the last few years,” Kompany said according to Goal.
“He’s shown if he had been around longer he’d have been at the top for a long time.”
The Belgian footballer added: “The Liverpool before Van Dijk and after is a completely different setup.”
“I’ll give him that one.”
“Unfortunately, I won’t be starting tonight or playing,” he sadly commented.
“It’s typical of me, I’ve got a slight hamstring injury so I couldn’t risk it tonight but there’s a low of awesome players.”
“It’s a celebration to say goodbye and I don’t have to be on the pitch. It’s for an unbelievable cause.”
“It’s unfortunate that Leroy Sane is out with a knee injury because I would have put him on Gary Neville,” Kompany told Sky Sports.
“My goal was to put the fastest winger I could find on Gary Neville’s side! Unless he goes and hides at centre-back, we’ll see.”
