The reliable Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly warned his team about Genk’s quality as he’s played for the Belgian side in the past.

Napoli opened their Champions League account with a big win over the current European Champions, Liverpool.

After a solid league performance against Brescia with 10 men, Ancelotti praised his new signing, Giovanni di Lorenzo.

The other big signing, Hirving Lozano, made a difference and almost led Napoli to a big comeback draw against Juventus, in a match which Napoli eventually lost 4-3.

After a win in a domestic league, Napoli will now face off with Genk in the Champions League on Wednesday.

This match has a special meaning for Napoli’s key man, Kalidou Koulibaly. Koulibaly made 64 appearances for Genk, as he’s returning to his old club’s stadium once again.

He spoke to the press ahead of the clash and talked about his good time in Genk.

According to Football Italia, Koulibaly said:

“It’s a very important game and we know Genk want to win, because they lost the opener, but we’ll be 100 per cent concentrated on the victory. We know it’ll be tough.

“I am truly happy to be back here, because I had two wonderful years playing for Genk. I have spoken to a few of my former teammates and I’m happy to have heard from them again. I certainly won’t forget the love of the Genk fans, but tomorrow I have to focus on Napoli.”

Ali Samatta is a familiar name for Koulibaly, as they both played at the African Cup of Nations this summer:

“We know Samatta is a dangerous player and I’ll try not to let him score tomorrow. As for the training, I don’t think I need excuses, I just need to do better. We all know that Napoli are conceding too many goals and want to change this as soon as possible.

“I am confident that from tomorrow, we can start to see the Kouli of old.”

The match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 18:55 CET.
