Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac hailed the team’s display in their 2-0 win at AEK Athens in the Champions League
The Bundesliga champions were left frustrated for the opening hour of the game in Greece as AEK kept the scoreline goalless.
However, two second-half goals from Javi Martinez and Robert Lewandowski sealed Bayern the three points.
And Kovac, who has been under increased scrutiny of late, is pleased with the outcome.
“The Greeks are well known for not giving away many chances. You can’t go to Athens and expect to win 4-0 or 5-0,” said Kovac on the club website.
“First of all, you have to find the space. Other teams will find it difficult here,”
“We played very well and controlled the opposition and we move the ball very well.”
Bayern will now hope to achieve back-to-back Bundesliga wins on Saturday at FSV Mainz 05 for the first time in over a month.
