Former Barcelona star Bojan Krkic would prefer to see his old club sign Roberto Firmino instead of Lautaro Martinez.
Barcelona’s recent transfer history has been nothing short of disaster.
The inability to prevent the loss of Neymar to PSG. Add to that the flop signings of Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, and Antoine Griezmann.
Former Catalonian starlet Krkic is concerned that they are looking for the wrong players again. Writing for Spanish outlet Sport, he believes that his old club needs to be more careful and learn from prior mistakes.
“Martinez is an excellent player.”
“Inter doesn’t usually take the initiative and that makes me think that Lautaro could occupy an area at Barca that is naturally not his.”
“That is something that would certainly be a shame”.
“I do not intend that this reflection be interpreted as a refusal to sign the Argentine.”
“But I understand that his profile must be analyzed very well because it would be unforgivable that, as happened with Griezmann.”
“We sign a striker to put him on the wing and then complain that it doesn’t work.”
“That cannot happen again because, although it seems obvious, a nine is a nine.”
“That is his natural habitat and to move him from there is to waste his talent. If Barca needs a nine, sign him, but do it to really use him.”
“If you allow me a name, I would bet more on Firmino: a link player, with a lot of presence and great mobility.”
Liverpool has already ruled out selling Firmino. However, the club has a habit of caving under pressure from Barcelona.
Could Firmino to Barcelona be one of the shock transfers of the summer that nobody saw coming?
