Takefusa Kubo has mentioned that he deserved to get bad treatment from Barcelona fans after turning his back on the club.
Takefusa Kubo was a subject of jeers for the Camp Nou faithful during RCD Mallorca’s match against Barcelona. But Kubo has suggested that he is not bothered by the harsh treatment by the Barcelona fans.
Kubo was a product of the Barcelona academy. The midfielder then moved back to Japan after Barca broke the transfer regulation. After returning to Spain, the 18-year joined arch-rival Real Madrid which seems to have caused an uproar among the Catalan fans.
As reported by Goal, Kubo believes the Barcelona fans are justified for their actions against him. But the Japanese also requested them to consider him as an opponent rather than one of their own.
“That’s the decision of the fans,” the RCD Mallorca player said.
“I made my call and they have the right to whistle me. I think I deserve it, although there were people who also applauded me, which gave me courage,” he added.
“Does it hurt? No, they have to see me as a rival, not as an 18-year-old boy who plays football pretty well,” Takefusa Kubo demanded.
