Manchester City have announced that Kyle Walker has extended his stay with the Premier League champions and will stay for a further two years.
Kyle Walker has so far had a lot of success with Manchester City. Since joining the Citizens from Tottenham, the England international has become an important presence for Pep Guardiola. With two league titles already won, Walker is keen on winning more silverware with the Premier League giants.
The English full back has now signed a two year extension on his current contract. The extension means that Walker will stay with City at least until 2024. According to Standard, Kyle Walker is going to pocked €200,000 a week apart from performance related bonuses.
The player is indeed excited at the prospect of playing for Manchester City for years to come. Paul Walker says that signing an extension with the club was an easy decision. The England international shares the club’s vision and is hopeful of doing better than before.
“I’m thrilled to have signed a new deal,” he said. “Playing for City has been everything I’d hoped it would be and more.
“It was an easy decision. I want to be competing for trophies, playing at the highest level, and I feel I have improved hugely as a player during my time here.
“The club’s vision – both on and off the pitch – matches mine perfectly and I’m looking forward to spending the new five years here, hopefully winning more silverware.”
Even though he is currently the club’s preferred full back down the right flank, Kyle Walker may struggle for game time next season. Pep Guardiola is keen on bringing Portuguese right back, Joao Cancelo from Juventus this summer. And this arrival could create some healthy competition between the duo.
It definitely would be a great move since Guardiola will have two great options to rely upon.
