Boca Juniors has reportedly turned down a 16 million dollar bid from the MLS giants for Cristian Pavon.

According to ESPN the Galaxy made the bid this previous weekend, but it was flaty rejected by Boca Juniors as “insufficient.”

The 23-year-old Argentine did not train with his current teammates. Boca is preparing for the quarter-finals of the COPA Libertadores.

It is understood that Boca is holding firm for a fee of 24 million dollars. Or a loan deal to a European team. In hope, a good run of form will see his value skyrocket.

Daniel Angelici the club president said:

“Pavon is a player who has suffered a drop in his form, but nobody forgets how to play football.”

“Because of that, I prefer to loan him to a good European club rather than agree to a bad transfer deal.”

Pavon was part of the Argentina squad in the 2018 World Cup in Russia and scored four goals in 19 appearances for Boca last season.

It is unclear if LA will go back or turn their attention elsewhere.

Martin Benitez of Independiente is a name that has been doing the rounds too as a possible replacement for Giovani Dos Santos. Who left LA fro Club America.

The 25-year-old Argentine has release clause is $20m.

The MLS team are in the market for a striker. They have become very dependant on Zlatan Ibrahimovich. With the big Swede is in a rich vein of form.

But at 37 years-of-age how much can his body take. We saw what happened at Manchester United when there was no opportunity for a break.

The LA Galaxy is in need of someone prolific.
